Pro Volleyball Player Jeff Nygaard Joins the WheyUP Team
Gilbert, Ariz. (PRWEB) May 19, 2008 -- WheyUP today announced that it has reached an endorsement agreement with Jeff Nygaard of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. Under this agreement, WheyUP becomes the "official sports drink" of Nygaard and has exclusive rights to use Nygaard's name and likeness in connection with the advertisement, promotion and sale of WheyUP. The startup beverage company will provide Nygaard with t-shirts, caps, stickers and patches to wear during competition, training and media interviews.
WheyUP, the original protein drink with energy, combines 20 grams of whey protein with an energy formula in a sugar-free, non-carbonated beverage. It represents a breakthrough in the sports energy drink market.
A two-time indoor Olympian (2000 and 2004 Olympics) for the United States, Nygaard was awarded the 2003 AVP Most Valuable Player and AVP Team of the Year with partner Dain Blanton. A Wisconsin native, he played volleyball at UCLA. Nygaard led the Bruins to two national championships (1993 and 1995). He earned post-season honors all four years at UCLA, including first-team recognition for three years (1993-95). He was college volleyball's top freshman in 1992 and MVP in 1994 and '95.

The AVP Tour features 18 stops across the United States and is covered by NBC Sports, FSN, MyNetworkTV, and avp.comTV. The AVP was established in 1983 and is comprised of the best men's and women's pro beach volleyball players in the world. The AVP stands alone as the only pro beach volleyball tour in the country and has a cooperative relationship with USA Volleyball and the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB).
