When the body is in starvation mode it tries to conserve energy and the only way it can be able to do this is by burning muscles tissues and neglecting the body fat. Therefore in order to gain muscle and weight you should make sure your calorie intake is adequate.

3. Rest

A lot of people who are struggling to gain muscle and weight tend to ignore this principle a lot. If you do not want to lose the already acquired muscles due to catabolism then you need to ensure that you get adequate rest in between the workout sessions and also at night when sleeping.
